  UI’SRC Calls for the Fifth Emergency Meeting  Oluwafeyisayo Adebanjo  The University of Ibadan, Students' Representative Council (UI’SRC) has called on all honourable members of the council for the fifth emergency meeting. The meeting scheduled for Tuesday 30th, September 2025 at 5 pm is set majorly to discuss the request for the reconstitution and re-sit of the disciplinary committee due to alleged constitutional oversight.

  ASUU gives FG 14-days Ultimatum, Vows 2-Weeks Warning Strike Afterwards  Oluwafeyisayo Adebanjo The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) in a notice to the Press on the 29th September, 2025 has given the Federal Government of Nigeria, fourteen days ultimatum to meet their pending needs and made a vow to embark on a two-week warning strike if the demands are not met. The notice duly signed by the Union President, Christopher Pinuwa decried the negligence of the government to the university system and her consistent refusal to heed to the union’s demands. The Union had agreed to this during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja on the 28th of September, 2025 after several appeals have been made to the government through rallies and raising of placards in both federal and state universities to resolve the lingering issues affecting the educational system.   The Poetry Club Holds an Open Mic Evening Esther Ogunleye  The Poetry Club of the Department of English, University of Ibadan on Thursday, 25th of September, 2025, hosted its first maiden open mic evening themed "The Making of a Poet" held at Room 71, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan.  The interactive session brought together poets and aspiring poets from across different departments of the university, who eagerly drew from the wisdom of the chief host as well as distinguished personalities in attendance. Notable among them were the Head of the Department of English, Prof. M.T. Lamidi, Prof. Mark Ighile who acted as the anchor, alongside other respected lecturers such as Prof. Nelson Fashina, Prof. Remi Raji, Dr. (Mrs.) Aiyetoro, Dr. Rita Okonoboh, and several others.   UI'SU holds Congress on Student Welfare and Campus Concerns Funmilola Adediji. The University of Ibadan Students' Union, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, held a congress at the Sub-Foyer, with proceedings commencing two hours later than scheduled after a quorum was formed. The congress was led by the Students' Union president, Covenant Odedele, who stated that the Congress was to address students welfare and other pressing concerns. He commenced the session by addressing the state of the union, noting that their administration has spent almost 200 days in office. The president spoke about the events, programs and initiatives his administration has organised and put in place, such as the freshers' week, GES transport initiative, town hall meeting and bursary programme for students.
