The University of Ibadan Students’ Union Backs SSANU, NASU Strike, Raises Alarm Over Student Hardship
Joy Olu-Ajayi The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) on the 5th of May, 2026, has declared its solidarity with the ongoing industrial action by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), while expressing concern over the growing hardship faced by students as the strike continues. In a statement released on Tuesday, the student body affirmed its support for the unions’ demand for fair treatment and institutional justice, stressing that “an injustice to one is an injustice to all.” Despite this support, the Union noted that the timing of the strike occurring in the middle of the academic semester has significantly disrupted student welfare and daily life on campus.
