NANS Fires Back at UI Students' Union Over Adebowale Criticism

Adewale Amoo  The National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS) President, Comrade Azeez Babatunde, has issued an official response to the University of Ibadan Students' Union (UI SU) following the union's decision to distance itself from his recent statement criticizing the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale. In a release obtained through the NANS official Facebook page, the statement stressed that the UI Students' Union, led by Adeboye Temidayo (Deboye), had claimed it was not consulted prior to the release by NANS President, which described the outgoing Vice-Chancellor's tenure as undemocratic and narcissistic and called on the ICPC to thoroughly investigate his administration. University of Ibadan Appoints Prof. Peter Olamakinde Olapegba as 14th Substantive Vice-Chancellor

  Adewale Amoo  The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, has appointed Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba as the 14th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution. His appointment follows a rigorous selection process among eight contestants, conducted in line with the university's approved guidelines. According to a report obtained from Punch Newspapers, the appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Adebisi Akande, shortly after the council approved the recommendation of the Joint Council-Senate Selection Board. Chief Akande disclosed that the council interacted with all eight candidates on Tuesday, July 21, during which members independently assessed and scored them using approved guidelines.
