In a statement released on Saturday, 20th June 2026, through the association's President, Akinteye Babatunde Azeez, on his verified X page (formerly known as Twitter), the President condemned the consequences of the delay on the beneficiaries of the initiative. "I have it on good authority that the disbursement of students' upkeep allowances has been on hold for the past two months, with no clear explanation or accountability from the relevant authorities.   Joy Olu-Ajayi  The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) on the 5th of May, 2026, has declared its solidarity with the ongoing industrial action by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), while expressing concern over the growing hardship faced by students as the strike continues. In a statement released on Tuesday, the student body affirmed its support for the unions’ demand for fair treatment and institutional justice, stressing that “an injustice to one is an injustice to all.” Despite this support, the Union noted that the timing of the strike occurring in the middle of the academic semester has significantly disrupted student welfare and daily life on campus.   By Adewale Amoo The Students' Union of the University of Ibadan in a statement sent out on the 1st of May 2026, has released the resolutions of the Student Welfare Stakeholders' meeting concerning the repair of kitchenettes, electricity supply and fee discrepancies.  The statement stated, "The Students' Union, University of Ibadan, wishes to inform the general student body of the resolutions reached during the Stakeholders' meeting held on April 30, 2026."   Joy Olu-Ajayi  The Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), University of Ibadan, has officially announced the commencement of its night reading programme on the 30th of April, 2026 which is aimed at promoting effective academic engagement among students.. According to the notice, the night reading exercise will run daily from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m . Designated venues include NFC 02A and 02B for silent reading, while the NFC Basement Classroom has been allocated for brainstorming and group discussions. The council also outlined guidelines to ensure order and productivity during the exercise. Only AFASites will be granted access and the presentation of a valid student identity card is mandatory for entry. Students using NFC 02A and 02B are required to maintain strict silence, while all discussions are restricted to the basement classroom.   Joy Olu-Ajayi  The University of Ibadan Students' Union in a notice signed by the Union's President, T. S Adeboye, has convened an Emergency Stakeholders' Meeting after a 48-hour ultimatum to the University Management over the campus power supply crisis expired by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28.  The notice reads: “Following the expiration of the ultimatum and in view of the continued irregular power supply across campus, the Students' Union remains concerned about the ongoing discomfort, academic disruption and welfare challenges faced by the students”.  The meeting is scheduled for April 30 at 4:00 PM in the SRC Chamber, with mandatory attendance for the SRC Speaker, Hall Chairpersons, Faculty Presidents, Faculty Councillors and the Departmental Presidents.  The notice further states that decisions reached will determine the Union's next steps and further updates are expected following the meeting.
