Two Months Without Upkeep, NANS Demands Immediate NELFUND Disbursement

  Adewale Amoo The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the immediate disbursement of outstanding monthly upkeep allowances to beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). In a statement released on Saturday, 20th June 2026, through the association's President, Akinteye Babatunde Azeez, on his verified X page (formerly known as Twitter), the President condemned the consequences of the delay on the beneficiaries of the initiative. "I have it on good authority that the disbursement of students' upkeep allowances has been on hold for the past two months, with no clear explanation or accountability from the relevant authorities. This unfortunate situation has generated widespread anxiety among Nigerian students who are beneficiaries across the country," the President stated. Esther Ogunleye Two University of Ibadan Dentistry students have earned national recognition after their startup, Errandly, emerged as second runner-up at the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Techpreneur Summit 5.0, securing a ₦4 million grant to support the platform’s growth and expansion. The startup, led by Yusuf Abdullah Olalekan, a 600-level student and Chief Executive Officer, alongside Emmanuel Adesokan, popularly known as Devfemzy, a 600-level student and Chief Technology Officer, was recognised at the summit held on June 11, 2026, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Lagos.
