NASELS UI Hosts Virtual Training on Millennium Campus Fellowship Application Process

The National Association of English and Literature Students, University of Ibadan (NASELS UI), has organised a virtual training aimed at guiding undergraduates, especially NASELSites, on how to successfully apply for the Millennium Campus Fellowship (MCF).

The training, themed “How to Apply for and Get Picked for the Millennium Campus Fellowship (MCF)”, was held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, by 9:00 p.m., via Google Meet.

The session was facilitated by Blessings Emmanuel, NASELS UI President and a Campus Director of the Millennium Campus Fellowship, 2025 Cohort, who is also actively involved in the programme. According to the executives, the training is designed to give students first-hand insight into the fellowship, its values, and the application process.

In an interview with the facilitator of the training, she explained that The Millennium Fellowship is a global leadership program powered by the United Nations, designed to empower students who are working to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their communities. “MCF provides recognition on an international platform as they are perceived as globally informed; access to leadership and  development resources, as well as workshops; networking opportunities with peers within and outside their nation; opportunities for grants one of which my co-campus director accessed last week; and skills and experiences that distinguish youths in future academic or career pursuits.”

Speaking on the initiative, the President of NASELS UI explained that the training was organised to help students better understand how to position themselves for global opportunities focused on leadership, service, and sustainable development.


“When I was campaigning to be President, one of the promises I made to NASELITES was to ensure that  every student has access to opportunities that can meaningfully impact their academic, professional, and personal growth. Millennium Campus Fellowship is one of such. It is prestigious and competitive but many students may not know how to navigate the application process or fully understand its benefits.


We organized this training because we believe no student should miss out on an opportunity simply due to ignorance or lack of guidance. My team and I felt it was our duty to step in, provide clarity, and walk students through the process.” the President noted.


The training was open to NASELSites and all interested undergraduates who are passionate about leadership, community service, the SDGs, and making meaningful global impact. Participants gained practical guidance on the application requirements, selection criteria, and how to align their personal goals with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development agenda through question and answer sessions.

 DR. AYODELE A. OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 . He is now Professor Ayodele A. Osisanwo. His field cuts across Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. In an interview with the NASELS Press, he admitted that the validation process started a year ago, but the journey itself involved burning the midnight oil, considering the number of papers he had to write and submit for assessment. When asked how he feels about the promotion, he said, “attaining the professorate is usually something of joy, something one prays about and something many desire." He is grateful to have achieved the great feat in a year stating the fact that the process is not usually easy.”  Professor Osisanwo is a widely published lecturer whose research has appeared in both national and international journals.

NASELS Press Holds Picnic and Handover Ceremony, Unveils New Editorial Board By Esther Ogunleye  The Nigerian Association of English and Literary Studies (NASELS) Press held its picnic and handover ceremony on 21st December, 2025, marking the official transition from the outgoing editorial board to the newly elected executives. The event, beginning with the press prayer, combined fun activities with formal proceedings, bringing together members of the press in a relaxed but composed atmosphere. It served both as a celebration of the outgoing team’s efforts and a call to greater responsibility for the new leadership.
