Closure of UI Undergraduate Hall of Residence 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Ibadan on February 11 2026, announced the closure of all undergraduate halls of residence for the 2024/2025 academic session. The information was disseminated in an internal memorandum issued by the Dean of Students, Prof. Demola Lewis, through the Student Affairs Division to the hall wardens of the hostels across the university. 


In the memo, students residing in the halls have been directed to vacate the premises with their belongings no later than 4:00 p. m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 as the fumigation of the hostels of residence will begin on February 17, 2026. 


To accommodate students who are engaged in approved academic programmes such as Industrial Training, Teaching Practice and Practical Training   that extend beyond the session, the university has provided Kenneth Mellanby Hall and Queen Elizabeth II Hall for temporary accommodation for the undergraduate students.


However, eligible students are to obtain an Authority-to-Pay form from the Lodgings Unit of the Student Affairs Division upon notification from their Dean of Faculty. A fee of ₦300 per day is required as well with payment made into a designated account at the UI Microfinance Bank. The payment spans for the period of 16 days, from February 17 to March 4, 2026.
