Night Reading Kicks Off at Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), University of Ibadan, has officially announced the commencement of its night reading programme on the 30th of April, 2026 which is aimed at promoting effective academic engagement among students..

According to the notice, the night reading exercise will run daily from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Designated venues include NFC 02A and 02B for silent reading, while the NFC Basement Classroom has been allocated for brainstorming and group discussions.

The council also outlined guidelines to ensure order and productivity during the exercise. Only AFASites will be granted access and the presentation of a valid student identity card is mandatory for entry. Students using NFC 02A and 02B are required to maintain strict silence, while all discussions are restricted to the basement classroom.

Participants have further been advised to maintain discipline, handle facilities responsibly and adhere strictly to the approved time schedule. The notice warned that non-compliance with the stated rules would attract disciplinary action.

 DR. AYODELE A. OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 . He is now Professor Ayodele A. Osisanwo. His field cuts across Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. In an interview with the NASELS Press, he admitted that the validation process started a year ago, but the journey itself involved burning the midnight oil, considering the number of papers he had to write and submit for assessment. When asked how he feels about the promotion, he said, “attaining the professorate is usually something of joy, something one prays about and something many desire." He is grateful to have achieved the great feat in a year stating the fact that the process is not usually easy.”  Professor Osisanwo is a widely published lecturer whose research has appeared in both national and international journals.

NASELS Press Holds Picnic and Handover Ceremony, Unveils New Editorial Board By Esther Ogunleye  The Nigerian Association of English and Literary Studies (NASELS) Press held its picnic and handover ceremony on 21st December, 2025, marking the official transition from the outgoing editorial board to the newly elected executives. The event, beginning with the press prayer, combined fun activities with formal proceedings, bringing together members of the press in a relaxed but composed atmosphere.
