UI Students’ Union Gives 48-Hour Deadline Over Erratic Power Supply

The University of Ibadan Students' Union on April 26, 2026, issued a memo demanding the immediate restoration of stable electricity across campus, giving the university management a 48-hour deadline to address the situation.

In the memo, the union expressed deep frustration over the persistent erratic power supply and ongoing electricity rationing affecting students. According to the memo, the union claimed to have previously engaged the university management through consultations and dialogue in a bid to resolve the issue. However, it noted that these efforts have not yielded the tangible improvements expected by the student body.

“Following our recent consultations and deliberations with the University Management regarding the erratic power supply and electricity rationing, we must express the growing frustrations of the student body,” the memo reads. 

Highlighting the scale of the issue, the union noted that the welfare of over 30,000 students is “non-negotiable”.

OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 . He is now Professor Ayodele A. Osisanwo. His field cuts across Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. In an interview with the NASELS Press, he admitted that the validation process started a year ago, but the journey itself involved burning the midnight oil, considering the number of papers he had to write and submit for assessment.
