UI Students' Union Releases Resolutions from Stakeholders’ Meeting

The Students' Union of the University of Ibadan in a statement sent out on the 1st of May 2026, has released the resolutions of the Student Welfare Stakeholders' meeting concerning the repair of kitchenettes, electricity supply and fee discrepancies.
The statement stated, "The Students' Union, University of Ibadan, wishes to inform the general student body of the resolutions reached during the Stakeholders' meeting held on April 30, 2026."
The Union communicated that the University Management, jointly with Hall Wardens and Hall Chairpersons, would prepare the total estimate for the repair of the kitchenettes and the Management would prioritise its approval for their prompt renovation to functional standards.
“It was agreed that the University Management in collaboration with Hall Wardens and Hall Chairpersons will finalise the repair estimate within the next few days”, the statement reads.
On the issue of electricity supply, the Union stated that the epileptic power supply on campus has been scheduled for discussion in the coming week, during which the Directorate of Works and Maintenance, power distribution representatives and University authorities will deliberate on it to ensure a stable supply across halls.
Also, concerning the issue of fee and levy discrepancies, the Union assured the student body that it has been compiling documented cases of such discrepancies and urged concerned students to forward any such cases to their representatives for immediate follow-up with the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, the release assured the student body: “While we acknowledge the recent improvement in electricity supply, the Union maintains that consistency is non-negotiable. We remain committed to following up on these resolutions to ensure they translate into meaningful outcomes for every Uite.”
