Two UI Dentistry Students Shine at DBN Techpreneur Summit, Win 4,000,000 Naira Grant

Two University of Ibadan Dentistry students have earned national recognition after their startup, Errandly, emerged as second runner-up at the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) Techpreneur Summit 5.0, securing a ₦4 million grant to support the platform’s growth and expansion. The startup, led by Yusuf Abdullah Olalekan, a 600-level student and Chief Executive Officer, alongside Emmanuel Adesokan, popularly known as Devfemzy, a 600-level student and Chief Technology Officer, was recognised at the summit held on June 11, 2026, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Lagos.

Errandly is a peer-to-peer errands and logistics platform designed to address the challenge of errands delegation within school campuses while creating earning opportunities for students.Through the platform, users can post errands for completion while student runners carry out these tasks and earn income in return. Since its launch, Errandly has gained notable adoption within the University of Ibadan and University College Hospital communities. The platform has facilitated more than 2,140 errands, attracted over 1,500 users, and generated over ₦1.4 million in earnings for student runners.


The startup’s journey to national recognition was marked by intense competition. According to information obtained by NASELS Press, over 800 startups from across Nigeria participated in the competition, with only ten startups selected to pitch physically before judges in Lagos. Among the participants were 40 startups that had previously competed at the national stage of the Hult Prize competition.


Speaking on the inspiration behind the startup, Mr. Olalekan explained that Errandly was created to solve the challenge many students face when trying to delegate errands within campus environments while also providing a means of passive income for students seeking additional sources of earnings. Building on its recent success, the team has outlined ambitious expansion plans. Errandly is expected to launch in four additional campuses in the coming months, with a long-term vision of expanding across Southwest Nigeria before extending its services nationwide.

OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 . He is now Professor Ayodele A. Osisanwo. His field cuts across Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. In an interview with the NASELS Press, he admitted that the validation process started a year ago, but the journey itself involved burning the midnight oil, considering the number of papers he had to write and submit for assessment. When asked how he feels about the promotion, he said, “attaining the professorate is usually something of joy, something one prays about and something many desire." He is grateful to have achieved the great feat in a year stating the fact that the process is not usually easy.”  Professor Osisanwo is a widely published lecturer whose research has appeared in both national and international journals.
