The Association of Faculty of Arts Students, University of Ibadan (AFAS) has notified its financial members of the impending convening of an AFAS Congress, in line with the provisions of the AFAS Constitution.

The notice, dated 9th August, 2026, made reference to Chapter 4 of the Constitution, which provides that "there shall be for the association a congress which shall comprise all financial members of the Association. All financial AFASITES shall be entitled to attend and participate in the business of the congress."

It also drew on Article 15(i) on the Powers of the Congress, which states that "the supreme authority of the association shall be vested in the congress, which shall meet at least once per semester."

The notice explained that the Congress will serve as an opportunity to brief members on the state of the association, address pressing issues, take up matters arising and consider other concerns affecting AFASites.

The notice further added that the date, time and venue for the Congress have not yet been fixed and would be announced in due course.
