AFAS Warns Students Against Indecent Dressing, Threatens Expulsion from Faculty Premises

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), University of Ibadan, has issued a strong warning against indecent dressing within the Faculty of Arts, stating that offenders will be asked to leave the premises until appropriately dressed.


In a public notice signed by AFAS President, Adeyefa Ebenezer and General Secretary, Ayorinde Olayode J., the association cautioned students and visitors against wearing bum shorts, extremely short skirts or trousers, transparent or excessively ripped clothing, and any attire considered indecent, saying such conduct falls short of the dignity and standards expected of the institution.


Following up on the notice, Ebenezer, in a personal statement, disclosed that the directive has already been approved by the Dean and Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, with all Heads of Department copied. He listed additional restrictions, including armless clothing, unreasonably short skirts, and outfits exposing the back.


He urged students to see the policy as advance notice rather than a personal attack, noting that anyone stopped by faculty management or portal officials should not feel embarrassed. 


"To be forewarned is to be forearmed," he said, describing the move as an effort to uphold approved standards and preserve the Faculty's dignity and culture.


The association has called on all students to comply ahead of full enforcement.

OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 .
