NASELS UI HOLDS DAY ONE OF THREE-DAY EMPOWERMENT SKILLS PROGRAM ONLINE

Day one of the students' empowerment initiative aimed at building valuable skills was held today, 15th of August, 2026, virtually. The bootcamp , organised by the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies(NASELS), University of Ibadan, was themed "Future Ready Academy and AI Boot Camp." The program started at exactly 3:00pm via Google Meet with the first trainer, Ms. Taiwo Olayinka, a 4th year law student, who spoke on Project Management.


Ms. Olayinka gave an exclusive lecture on Project Management. Starting from the introduction, she stated that Project Management can be related to how we manage our everyday lives. She emphasised the key aspects of Project Management, which include defining project scope, identifying deliverables, managing risks, and effective communication. "If you do not know how to communicate, your project will suffer," Ms Taiwo further stated..


She also mentioned the second stage of Project Management, which is the planning stage. Moreover, she commented on the importance of stakeholders, budget and risk management, monitoring, evaluation, and closing in carrying out a successful project

.

The second trainer, Ms. Blessing Emmanuel, NASELS President, delivered a lecture on Virtual Assistance. Ms. Emmanuel affirmed that, "You're the powerhouse of what you're managing and the backbone of every business you work on," while defining who a virtual assistant is. She discussed the different areas of Virtual Assistance, the benefits of having the skills, and the tools needed as a virtual assistant to execute any work. Ms. Emmanuel also made a remark on the importance of communication during her lecture.


The meeting ended with Ms. Emmanuel appreciating and encouraging the participants on how the program is designed to equip students with valuable skills and assist them financially. She announced that the program will continue on the 21st and 22nd of August, 2026.
