NASELS UI Holds Grand Finale of Three-day Empowerment Skills Program Virtually

The grand finale of the three-day Future Ready Academy and AI Boot Camp aimed at developing students was organised today via Google Meet. The program which spanned from  Saturday, 15th of August up to Friday, 21st of August and Saturday, 22nd of August, 2026 came to an end today.


The boot camp started at exactly 12:00pm with the first trainer, Ms Rihanat Makinde, a representative from Tekrise Academy –an organisation in partnership with the boot camp, giving an expert-led training about AI Automation. “AI is not going to replace you only if you know how to leverage it.”, she stated. Moreso, she discussed the difference between AI and Automation, the benefits, and held a practical class on how to use AI Automation mentioning the necessary tools needed.


The second trainer, Mr Faith Anoedi, a 4th year Engineering student of the University of Ibadan emphasized on Graphics Design. Mr Faith facilitated a practical class for the participants; guiding them on how to create an outstanding graphics design. He highlighted that graphics design is a lucrative skill that can sustain and bring influence into one's life. 


Ms. Victoria Okorie, the third trainer addressed the participants on Social Media and Personal Branding. Ms Okorie affirmed that, “You don't have to be famous to be valuable”. She further noted that Personal Branding is more than creating or designing a logo, it is how you can present yourself publicly to people. She asserted that clarity is one of the important concepts that drives people's perception about others.


The last trainer, Ms Happiness Temidayo Adeleye, explored on the topic “Curriculum Vitae Writing and Job Acquisition.” During her session, she made it clear to the participants that a curriculum vitae is different from a resumé.” It's a marketing document “, she said. Ms Adeleye elaborated on the topic by engaging participants to write a short curriculum vitae. 


The initiative ended with the President, Ms. Blessings Emmanuel appreciating everyone for joining and also engaging them to fill up a feedback form to be sent later on the group chat.

 DR. AYODELE A. OSISANWO BECOMES FULL PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Zenas Olanipekun Dr. Ayo Osisanwo of the Department of English, University of Ibadan has received his promotion to become a full Professor, effective October 1st, 2025 . He is now Professor Ayodele A. Osisanwo. His field cuts across Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis. In an interview with the NASELS Press, he admitted that the validation process started a year ago, but the journey itself involved burning the midnight oil, considering the number of papers he had to write and submit for assessment. When asked how he feels about the promotion, he said, “attaining the professorate is usually something of joy, something one prays about and something many desire." He is grateful to have achieved the great feat in a year stating the fact that the process is not usually easy.”  Professor Osisanwo is a widely published lecturer whose research has appeared in both national and international journals.

NASELS Press Holds Picnic and Handover Ceremony, Unveils New Editorial Board By Esther Ogunleye  The Nigerian Association of English and Literary Studies (NASELS) Press held its picnic and handover ceremony on 21st December, 2025, marking the official transition from the outgoing editorial board to the newly elected executives. The event, beginning with the press prayer, combined fun activities with formal proceedings, bringing together members of the press in a relaxed but composed atmosphere. It served both as a celebration of the outgoing team’s efforts and a call to greater responsibility for the new leadership.
